Long stretched working hours, unending tight to neck schedules, meetings, follow-ups, deadlines phew……… A cup of coffee is what sails a regular office goer through the hectic day!!   Well a cup of coffee was certainly fine but in reality it’s just not a cup of coffee but rather several cups of coffees in a day that we usually end up consuming. How good or bad this habit forming beverage can be for us?  How much is safe ? Let’s dig in a bit, to know more.   Coffee might have huge fan following due to immediate alertness it imparts but it doesn’t hold a very high reputation among many primarily due to high caffeine content . Sugar – A Sweet & Silent Killer

Sweet carvings are undoubtedly the most difficult things to give up. After trying the hardest, we still give in to this sugary sin.  And the sad part is, due to limited knowledge, we usually connect more sweet consumption to weight gain or diabetes , which are  also one of the few adverse affects of over consumption but certainly not the only..!!! There are far dreadful and far reaching consequences of its over – indulgence.   You can gauge its adversity from the very fact “Sweets cause cavities in teeth”… Well most of us knew this already, but what we don’t know is that the tooth enamel is the hardest tissue in our body. If sugar can penetrate them then what not?  Know Thy Sugar The white crystalline sugar that we usually consume is the most refined form devoid of all the vitamins, minerals , fiber and all the other useful nutrients, consequently  it  does not digest naturally. In order to metabolize sugar through the kidneys, the heart is force...

Corruption Is Not Way Of Life, We don't have to live with it !!!

I used to ponder over a question, a question which every Indian thinks over but find it convenient to leave than to fight for…. A reality that stalks us day and night but eventually gets buried in the oblivion because of no hope left …!!!  Simpler to question, but never easy to answer - Corruption, Is there any end to this malice?    Someone had to stand up to answer, someone had to show the way, a ray of hope emerged when one man stood up for the task, Shri Anna Hazare . It took no time for movement to snowball and garner huge support from all quarters of life.    Why do you think, its getting so much support? Why people who after toiling hard during the day, make it a point to be part of a candle light vigil? Why a college goer instead of being at the next happening party is holding the candle and standing at Jantar Manter Delhi or Sector 17 Plaza Chandigarh? Why small school children along with their teachers are bearing the onslaught of summers yet standi...

Water – The Elixir of Life

“70% of our body comprises of water” – The most famous and known fact yet the most overlooked one.   How many times have you returned from your physician with a hole in your pocket and an advice to follow “Increase your water intake, At least 8-10 glasses per day” Well, if we abide by that, most of our common ailments might well be thing of the past and your doc might well be soon out of work :)  Am I joking ? Well No, Read on and you’ll get why not…. Water or H2O as it is scientifically known is indispensible component required for the proper functioning of our body. A Cup That Can Serve As An Inspiration

A history of sorts was created at Wankhede Mumbai when India became the first host country to lift the Cricket’s most coveted trophy The Great World Cup on its soil.  It took whooping 28 years to relive the moments of 1983. At the same time defeat at the hands of Lankans in 1996 WC quarter finals was also sweetly avenged.   The feeling of been there and seen that is certainly out of the world, and those lucky ones at the Wankhede will cherish the memories of it for rest of their lives. But those who watched it on their good old televisions sets had time of their life as well.  It was all in all a very emotional moment. Post match audience as well as players all had teary eyes.  It was not just a win,  It rather came as a binding force uniting the whole country together.  In the tense moments, in the nearing moments, in all the moments, there was only one prayer resounding every mind, a prayer for nothing less but Win. Boundaries of rich, poor, cul...

The Final Frontier

2nd April 2011 14:30 IST, the roads will go empty, Offices will remain closed. Educational Institutions shut. Lucky ones will be in Wankhede  and not so lucky will be glued in front of their TV Sets as Indian Team makes its appearance in finals of  ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. 500 minutes of game will decide the next Cricketing Champions. India got its first and only Cup on 25 June 1983. Its been 28 years of waiting since then. India reached finals last in 2003 and was beaten by Four times WC champions - Australia.        This time the second team to qualify for the final is is none other than 1996 World Champions Sri Lanka. Surely the road ahead is not at all easy, We all want to see the Cup in hands of The Great Blue Brigade but at the same time We must understand that both the teams who reached this far are champions in their own right. They took greatest of the challenges head on and came out victorious to be here. In my eyes both are Winn...
